Following the success of the two previous editions, the Cupertino company has decided to renew its annual conference at the Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) in order to lift the veil on future innovations to come around iOS, macOS, watchOS, tvOS and many more. obviously iPadOS.

Indeed, it is during the WWDC22, which will take place from June 6 to 10, that the first official information around iPadOS 16 should be revealed. But in the meantime, discover the new features that could land on the new version of the Apple brand’s operating system.

What new features for iPadOS 16?

On the occasion of this event scheduled for next June, Apple could take the opportunity to announce some important new features for its iPads, starting with a brand new notification system. Indeed, although the American giant has already recently integrated some new features on this subject, in particular with the introduction of summaries of your notifications, this does not seem to have completely satisfied the Apple brand. Apple would be rethinking their appearance, no doubt for the sake of ergonomics and readability.

Finally, the second major novelty this time could concern the multitasking interface. This mode, which allows you to work with several applications simultaneously on your tablet, is particularly important for professional use. The Split View and Slide Over modes, which allow you to display two apps next to each other and slide your windows to the side of the screen, could be further improved here thanks to a redesigned interface for iPadOS 16.

What devices does iPadOS 16 support?

Last year, when moving from iPadOS 14 to iPadOS 15, Apple decided to maintain compatibility with all devices, despite the lack of certain features depending on the device generations. However, rumors suggest this time that iPadOS 16 could leave the iPad Mini 4, iPad Air 2, iPad (fifth generation), as well as the original iPad Pro models, on the floor. Here is the list of devices that could therefore support iPadOS 16:

  • iPad Pro 12.9 (5and generation);
  • iPad Pro 11 (3and generation);
  • iPad Pro 12.9 (4and generation);
  • iPad Pro 11 (2and generation);
  • iPad Pro 12.9 (3and generation);
  • iPad Pro 11 (1D generation);
  • iPad Pro 12.9 (2and generation);
  • iPad Pro 10.5 (2and generation);
  • iPad Air (5and generation) ;
  • iPad Air (4and generation);
  • iPad Air (3and generation);
  • iPad mini (6and generation);
  • iPad mini (5and generation);
  • iPad (9and generation) ;
  • iPad (8and generation);
  • iPad (7and generation);
  • iPad (6and generation);

It is worth remembering that this is not an official list and that you will still need to arm yourself with a little bit of patience before discovering all the compatible devices. Note that it is also not impossible for Apple to disclose some information as WWDC approaches. Finally, unless the Apple brand changes its habits, iPadOS 16 should arrive next September on our Apple tablets.
