At its annual WWDC, Apple unveiled iPadOS 17, the new version of its operating system for Apple brand tablets.

This update brings many new features and improvements, including lock screen, widgets, PDFs, notes, messages, and health. Here’s an overview of the main features of iPadOS 17.

Smarter, easier to fill PDFs

iPadOS 17 makes working with PDFs on your iPad easier. You can now use Autofill, which detects and fills in PDF form fields for you. You can also annotate and collaborate on PDFs with the Notes app, which lets you create sticky notes, highlight text, draw with Apple Pencil, or share your comments with others.

The Notes app also expands with iPadOS 17. You can create quick notes from any app by swiping up from the bottom right corner of the screen. You can also add tags to your notes to classify them and find them easily. Finally, you can take advantage of Focus Mode, which helps you focus on a note by hiding distractions.

A more customizable and interactive lock screen

With iPadOS 17, you can now personalize your iPad lock screen with your favorite photos, live wallpapers, original fonts and colors, or even emoji. You can also take advantage of interactive widgets on the lock screen, which give you quick access to useful information or frequent actions, such as checking the weather, controlling music, starting a timer or taking a note.

More fun and expressive messages

iPadOS 17 makes messaging more fun and expressive on your iPad. You can send personalized stickers with your Memoji or Animoji, which reflect your mood or personality. You can also leave audio or video messages via FaceTime, which will be transcribed automatically and can be viewed by your contacts whenever they want.

Health on your iPad

iPadOS 17 introduces the Health app to your iPad, which lets you track your wellness and fitness on your tablet’s big screen. You can view interactive graphs that show you the evolution of your health data, such as your heart rate, your sleep or your stress level. You can also access HealthKit, which gives you access to innovative apps and services designed for iPad.

iPadOS 17 is available today in developer beta, and will be released to the general public this fall.
