iPhone 12: Smartphones are delivered without a power supply unit

The different models of the upcoming iPhone 12 will not come with a power supply unit or headphones.

As already suspected, the new iPhone models are delivered without a power supply unit and headphones (EarPods). Apple confirmed this at the launch of the iPhone 12, iPhone 12 mini, iPhone 12 Pro and iPhone 12 Pro Max.

Apple has been very environmentally conscious for some time. According to the tech giant, this should make the packaging of the new iPhones significantly smaller, which can reduce carbon emissions. Due to the smaller packaging, 70 percent more boxes than before should fit on a transport pallet. Taken together, this means that up to around two million tons of emissions can be saved annually, which should correspond to a load of 450,000 cars in road traffic.

Adapters and headphones in the store

On the other hand, more accessories can of course be sold separately. The well-known EarPods are currently listed in the store on the Apple website at a price of 18.50 euros. A charger that supports the new MagSafe magnet system is available for 43.85 euros and an adapter with 20 watts to connect the USB-C to Lightning cable, which is still included, with which the smartphone can be charged at any USB source can – can be used at the socket for 24.35 euros.

Long-term Apple users should still have several adapters, charging cables and headphones from previous generations of smartphones at home. Of course, it should also be possible to use suitable power supplies, adapters and cables from other manufacturers.

Here are the prices and release dates for the individual models: The iPhone 12 will be available from € 876.30 and will be released on October 23. The iPhone 12 mini arrives on November 13th and will cost 778.85 euros in its smallest storage variant. The iPhone 12 Pro will be released on October 23rd and will cost at least 1,120 euros, while the iPhone 12 Pro Max will be available from 1,217.50 euros and will be released on November 13th.
