If you were wondering how much the iPhone 14 Pro costs Apple, know that we now know the answer. To your predictions!

If we started the morning on a light tone with the discovery of this iPhone equipped with both a Lightning and USB-C port, let’s get a little more serious again. Let’s find out what the manufacturing costs of the iPhone 14 Pro Max are.

iPhone 14 Pro Max: a compendium of technology, but…

With the release of the iPhone 14 last year, Apple took the opportunity to usher in some software and hardware changes. First of all, in terms of software, iOS 16 was an opportunity for the Apple brand to somewhat reduce the gap that separates it from Android in terms of customization. Finally, on a purely hardware level, the iPhone 14 Pro and 14 Pro Max proved to be the most complete with the integration of the Always On display and Dynamic Island, which then uses the notch of the device as an element fully interactive.

Of course, all this is without mentioning the A16 Bionic chip, the satellite connection and the 48 megapixel camera. Considering all of these elements, a question can then legitimately cross our minds: how much does the iPhone 14 Pro Max cost Apple?

… at what price for Apple?

Generally speaking, and in comparison with the iPhone 13 Pro Max, the manufacturing costs of the iPhone 14 Pro Max are slightly higher. More specifically, we are talking about an increase of around 3.4% compared to its predecessor in the same range. According to the very serious site Wccftech, the camera and the Always On display would be the main causes of this increase. For its part, the A16 Bionic chip has also played a role in this evolution, since it costs about 11 dollars more to produce than a previous generation chip. To offset this, as 5G cellular technology grows in popularity, costs have dropped 13% from the year before.

Regarding the total manufacturing cost of the iPhone 14 Pro Max, for a version with 128 GB of storage, this amounts to 474 dollars. If this actually represents less than half the selling price of the device, it should be noted that this figure does not include the costs of packaging, assembly and distribution. In addition, since the Cupertino company has invested several million dollars in research, the costs of the iPhone 14 Pro Max should actually be reconsidered.

Apple iPhone 14 Pro Max

  • Dynamic Island
  • Overall performance
  • Screen quality

Tim Cook usually concludes his presentation of a new iPhone by stating that it is the best ever. He’s absolutely right when he talks about the brilliant iPhone 14 Pro Max in so many ways. We appreciate the quality of its screen, the phenomenal computing power of the SoC A16 Bionic, the increased autonomy, and above all, the improvement of the photo and video parts, already powerful on the iPhone 13 Pro Max.

Dynamic Island is a great way to camouflage the hideous notch that sits on iPhone screens…and even make it acceptable. In the end, this gadget is more useful than futile, and we quickly appreciate its presence.

There remain the annoying points, such as the absence of an electrical adapter, the slow charging of the battery, and of course, the price. To afford the “best iPhone ever designed”, you will have to pay at least 1,479 euros for the 128 GB version, an increase of 220 euros compared to the 13 Pro Max. The 256 GB, 512 GB and 1 TB versions are offered at 1,609, 1,869 and 2,129 euros respectively, i.e. increases of 230, 260 and 290 euros compared to the iPhone 13 Pro Max of the same capacity.

The iPhone 14 Pro Max is undoubtedly a great product. But its price becomes a deterrent for most potential buyers. In its 1 TB version, it crosses the 2,000 euro mark, like Samsung and its Galaxy Z Fold 4 (2,159 euros). After all, if buyers are ready to pay such sums, manufacturers would be wrong to deprive themselves of it…
