It must be admitted, Apple has always made sure to make its iPhones difficult to repair. A bad habit much criticized by users and the tech world in general.

But the American firm has obviously made considerable efforts in this area for its new smartphone.

A strategy that has become untenable?

Users who have trusted Apple for several years know full well that the brand headed by Tim Cook has always had “problems” with the repairability of its iPhones. Indeed, repairing a smartphone from the firm was until now a real obstacle course… because Apple has always wanted to prevent its customers from repairing their phone on their own.

To put it simply, Apple uses glue, but also welds in order to seal its iPhones. It is therefore not uncommon to break something when opening the device to hope to change a defective component. It was high time to rectify the situation, and the manufacturer seems to have taken action.

A real and appreciable change

This Monday, iFixit decided to disassemble the iPhone 14. The video produced on this occasion perfectly demonstrates that Apple has clearly improved in this area. The technician explains that the operation is carried out easily and without any risk for the integrity of the telephone. The famous welds and glue are no longer relevant. In addition, the screen and the back plate of the mobile separate by removing only a small pair of screws. The manipulation seems affordable for almost everyone.

Thus, it is thanks to these optimizations that the iPhone 14 obtains the note of 7/10 with regard to its repairability. A great feat that we hope to be able to observe on the other models of the recent range. So, after launching its Self Service Repair service this year, Apple is continuing its efforts… and that’s a good thing.
