After Apple’s September event, half of the technology world is mostly talking about the top models, namely the Pro models. But of course it’s also worth taking a look at the basic versions of the iPhone 15. The iPhone 15 Plus is likely to offer the longest battery life in everyday use.
Pro feature for the base models
Apple will stick to the tried and tested display sizes in 2023. The iPhone 15 has a 6.1-inch (15.49 centimeters) touchscreen and the iPhone 15 Plus has a 6.7-inch (17.02 centimeters) touchscreen. Both new products do not have promotion technology (variable refresh rate), which is once again reserved for the Pro models.

Like the Pro models from last year, Apple’s entry-level iPhones now also have the variable notch called Dynamic Island. As with the previous generation, aluminum is used as the frame material. So don’t expect that there will be any significant differences in terms of feel.
Camera: Significant leap forward
Every iPhone update so far has brought better cameras, including this time. Both iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus have an image sensor with a resolution of 48 megapixels. The iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Plus still had to make do with a 12-megapixel camera.
A telephoto lens with a double optical zoom is also used. This now allows the smartphone to have a total of three zoom levels (0.5x, 1x, 2x). Once again, Apple wants to have improved recordings in difficult lighting situations and once again it is a dual camera setup. By the way, portrait photos can now be taken with the new model without having to specifically call up the corresponding camera mode.
A16 SoC, storage and USB-C port
Both new products are powered by the A16 Bionic chipset. This has so far been used in the iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max and is known for its high performance output. As usual, Apple keeps the cloak of silence about the built-in RAM. It was previously assumed that the iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus would have six gigabytes of RAM.
There are no surprises when it comes to storage sizes. The iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus are available with either 128, 256 or 512 gigabytes of storage capacity. Apple is now integrating USB-C into the iPhone 15 for the first time. Of course, MagSafe is also retained, so that the smartphone can still be charged wirelessly.
In addition, the smartphone has received a new ultra-wideband chip – like the Apple Watch Series 9. Also on board is the SOS function via satellite outside the cellular network.

The iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus have a brighter display than the iPhone 14. With a peak brightness of 2,000 nits, the screen can be easily read even in very bright environments. The iPhone 14 only achieved 1,000 nits.

The iPhone 15 (Plus) is available in pink, yellow, green, blue and black. The price of the iPhone 15 in Germany is 949 euros; the Plus model costs at least 1,099 euros. The new models will be available from September 22nd. You can pre-order it on September 15th at 2 p.m.
