The Covid-19 pandemic is on the rise again in China and some factories are facing difficulties due to restrictions due to this rebound. Apple is still suffering the consequences.
China is obviously not out of the Covid-19 epidemic. For the past few days, several cities have been subject to an embargo which once again has consequences for the industrial sector. The Nikkei Asia also explains that some Apple suppliers have had to suspend production.
This is the case of Pegatron, which had to interrupt the activity of its factories in Kunshan and Shanghai. Two sites which still represent between 20 and 30% of the total production of iPhone in the world.

A situation that obviously worries the Cupertino company, especially if these closures are long-term. Pegatron indicated “Hope to resume production soon”without specifying a date.
MacBooks also affected
It is not the only company affected by the resumption of the epidemic. The Chinese government has applied the same restrictions to Quanta, another firm working for Apple, at its Shanghai site.
The latter takes care of the production of MacBooks and also finds itself at a standstill. The situation could therefore quickly prove to be delicate for Apple, since part of the production chain would be blocked for its two flagship products. Other brands like Tesla are affected by this blockage hitting Shanghai.

These multiple supply concerns, which have existed since the start of the health crisis, are therefore far from over. Last month, the Taiwanese company Foxconn (under contract with Apple) suffered the same fate in the city of Shenzhen, in the south of the country. It is therefore a safe bet that this year 2022 will again be largely disrupted, which will have consequences on the availability and price of many electronic products.
