Iran: actress Taraneh Alidoosti released after three weeks of detention


Actress Taraneh Alidoosti, who was arrested by Iranian authorities after supporting protests in her country, has just been released after three weeks in detention.

On December 19, Taraneh Alidoosti was arrested by the Iranian authorities after supporting the protest movement that is shaking her country. This Wednesday, the actress, seen recently in the credits of Leila and her brothers, was released on bail in Tehran after three weeks of detention. The announcement was made by the Iranian authorities.

Taraneh Alidoosti openly supported the protests that had been going on in Iran since the death of young Mahsa Amini after her arrest by the vice squad last September.

“My client was released on bail today”, Taraneh Alidoosti’s lawyer told the Isna news agency. Many personalities of the seventh art, including the French actress Marion Cotillard and the Spanish director Pedro Almodóvar, had mobilized to show their support for the actress.
