Iran summoned the German ambassador on Monday after the country initiated a UN Human Rights Council resolution establishing an international commission of inquiry into the crackdown on protests in Iran.
“After Germany’s initiative to hold a special meeting of the Human Rights Council regarding recent events in our country, the German Ambassador was summoned to Foreign Affairs“, indicated the official agency Irna. Iran’swill not cooperate with any mechanism defined on the basis of this resolution based on a political and instrumentalized approach“, indicated the ministry by reiterating the “total rejection” of the text and protesting against the “baseless statements by the German authorities“. Several ambassadors, notably from Germany, Great Britain or France, have been summoned in recent weeks to send them notes of protest.
