(Reuters) – A final text on reviving the 2015 Iran nuclear deal is “broadly ready and on the table” but talks in Vienna need a pause due to “external factors”, it said on Friday. the High Representative of the European Union for External Affairs, Josep Borrell.

In Tehran, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs suggested that this suspension of the discussions could make it possible to trigger a dynamic in favor of the resolution of the last points which remain to be clarified.

“The pause in the Vienna talks could provide impetus for resolving outstanding issues and a final declaration. The success of these negotiations will be the primary goal of all parties,” the ministry spokesperson tweeted. .

“No external factor will affect our common will to move towards a collective agreement,” he added.

After eleven months of discussions between Western powers and Iran in the Austrian capital, the 2015 agreement providing for the lifting of international sanctions against the Islamic Republic in return for a framework for Iranian nuclear activities was about to be finalized. back on track.

But Russia raised a new hurdle last Saturday by demanding a written commitment from the United States not to interfere with its trade with Iran under the sanctions it is the target of because of its offensive in Ukraine.
