The Lana ship, previously called Pegas, reported an engine problem in April. It was heading south on the Peloponnese peninsula to unload its cargo on another tanker when rough seas forced it to moor off Karystos, where it was seized, according to the Athens News news agency. Agency (ANA).
A Greek court also overturned an earlier ruling that allowed the United States to confiscate part of the ship’s cargo of Iranian oil, three sources familiar with the matter said.
The incident angered Tehran, and authorities last month seized two Greek tankers in the Persian Gulf after previously warning of “punitive measures” against Athens.
