The Parisian had access to L'Officiel des prénoms 2021, before its release scheduled for September 3. The least we can say is that the first names in connection with nature, will be very trendy!

After two months of confinement, would the French be more oriented towards nature? In any case, this is what the "trendy first names" of the Official First Names 2021, to which Le Parisien had access to, suggests. The specialists Stéphanie Rapoport and Claire Tabarly Perrin, authors of the guide, believe that first names in connection with nature will make a comeback in the coming months. Is there a real consequence of this very special year or a renewed affection for these rather sweet names? While waiting for the answer, you may see a lot of Rose, Iris or Violette in the future. On the boys' side, the first names Léo (lion in Latin), Loup or even Como (relating to the cosmos), would be popular.

Also expect to see some Zéphir, Automne, Aubépine or Syrius. Although little known, these names with new sounds could win the love of parents-to-be, according to the book. "They will not be given on a massive scale, of course, but our statistical projections detect the arrival of these first names almost never attributed in recent years," says Stéphanie Rapoport.

Old and short names

Also according to L’Officiel des prenoms, short names are still very popular, especially those ending in "a" (Léa, Mia …) and "o" (Enzo, Hugo …).

Finally, the two authors also predict a return to old names. Perhaps, because of the many elderly people who died during the Coronavirus epidemic, they explain. Among the favorites, Madeleine, Jeanne, Alice or Colette for girls. Lucien, Marcel, Alfred or Pierre, for the boys.

Of course, you are free to play with the first names and not to respect the usually assigned gender. For example Camille, Yael or Maxence.
