Irm Hermann: The film and theater actress passed away

Irm Hermann is dead. According to her agent, the "award-winning and revered actress of numerous feature films, television films, plays and radio plays" died on May 26, 2020 at the age of 77 after a short serious illness (…). The German film, television and theater actress appeared in numerous films by director Rainer Werner Fassbinder (1945-1982) as well as for productions by Werner Herzog (77) or Christoph Schlingensief (1960-2010).

From "Pappa ante portas" to "Fack Ju Göhte 3"

The Munich-born artist first gained fame in Fassbinder's short film "Der Stadtstreicher" from 1966. In total, she appeared in around 20 of his films, including "The bitter tears of Petra von Kant" (1972) and "The dealer of the four seasons", for which she received the "Filmband in Gold" in the category "Best Performing Performances" in 1972.

Hermann also appeared as Aunt Hedwig in Loriot's (1923-2011) cult film "Pappa ante portas" (1991) and in Werner Herzog's "Woyzeck" (1979) alongside Klaus Kinski (1926-1991). Through the box office hit "Fack Ju Göhte 3" (2017) she became known to the younger audience. In it she played Ploppi's grandma, which Lucas Reiber (26) played.

In addition to her work as a theater and film actress, Hermann was involved in various radio play productions. She lived in Berlin for many years and was married to the children's book author Dietmar Roberg (born 1942). With him she has two sons, Franz Tizian and Fridolin.
