Samsung wants to use AI to boost the autonomy of its smartphones. Finally a really interesting use of artificial intelligence on our mobiles?
With its Galaxy S24 series, Samsung has introduced new features based on artificial intelligence and grouped under the name Galaxy AI. They are not always very useful or effective, but the South Korean brand could ultimately use AI wisely for a very practical improvement for all users.
Up to 10% autonomy gain
According to information from leaker PandaFlash, relayed by Wccftech, Samsung is developing a function called Battery AI, which would increase the autonomy of its smartphones by around 5 to 10%. This should adapt to the user’s use of the device to eliminate background tasks that it considers superfluous.
This type of autonomy boosting tool is not new, but often requires a slowdown in performance: limitation of 5G/4G antenna speeds, reduction in CPU and GPU clock frequency, etc. Here , Battery AI would have little or no impact on smartphone performance.
Samsung has made progress in the autonomy of its smartphones in recent years, and this technology could help take it to a new milestone.
A flagship feature of the Galaxy S25?
The source cannot say when such a feature will be rolled out. We can easily imagine that this will initially be reserved for new high-end products from Samsung. This would then send us back to the beginning of 2025, corresponding to the release of the Galaxy S25 range. Battery AI could then be pushed to other Galaxy AI compatible smartphones.
The battery capacity of the Galaxy S25, S25+ and S25 Ultra should not change much compared to that of their predecessors. However, they should benefit from a more energy efficient chip, Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 or the in-house Exynos 2500, depending on the model and country of purchase. Engraved in 3 nm, these SoCs are another hope of seeing autonomy increase.

The successor to the Galaxy S23 Ultra represents a logical and appreciable evolution of last year’s S23 ultra. The only smartphone to be accompanied by a stylus, it benefits from the best of current technology. We appreciate the quality of the screen, the computing power as well as its very honorable autonomy.
On the design side, it drops the screen with curved edges that the manufacturer has highlighted until now on its high-end products. The titanium chassis is solid, as is the new Gorilla Armor glass which covers the AMOLED panel. In addition to improving its resistance to scratches, it eliminates a large part of the parasitic reflections.
The photo/video part is progressing and the abandonment of the 10x periscopic optical zoom, replaced by a 5x version, does not really have any impact on the quality of the images.
This year, the real innovation comes from the software part. OneUI 6.1 remains as complete and pleasant to use, but the change comes from the integration of Galaxy AI which could truly be a game-changer. To be continued, therefore.
