Pap Ndiaye has chosen to take the opposite view of his predecessor at the Ministry of Education. While a tense return to school is announced, due to the shortage of teachers and bus drivers, the minister has tried to deflate a recurring controversy at the end of the summer: that which affects the use of allowances returned by families. Several Republican deputies also tabled a bill this summer aimed at “supervise the use of the back-to-school allowance“.
Last year, the former Minister of Education Jean-Michel Blanquer revived the controversy by declaring that “if we face it, we know that there are sometimes larger purchases of flat screens in September than at other times“.
