Is Elon Musk stepping down as Twitter boss? That’s what the crypto space says

Twitter CEO Elon Musk has had his resignation voted on after just 54 days in office. He wrote: “Should I step down as Twitter boss? I will stick to the results of this poll.” Depending on who you ask, the result was sobering: around 60 percent of the Twitter community voted to resign. Over 17 million votes were counted.

After Musk bought the microblogging service Twitter for around 44 billion US dollars in October, it wasn’t long before criticism of his management style arose. Above all, chaotic personnel management, including numerous layoffs, caused outrage.

The crypto space and Twitter are generally two pairs of shoes. However, a certain entanglement or co-dependence of the culture of debate in both spheres cannot be dismissed out of hand. A large part of the discourse about Bitcoin and Co. takes place today on the communication structure of Twitter. The evaluation of the survey within the crypto industry is correspondingly diverse.

Crypto heavyweights have their say

Some of the big players in the crypto industry were tempted to comment. Binance boss Changpeng Zhao backed the tech mogul: “No, stay the course.” Ethereum founder Vitalik Buterin was impressed to hand over such a decision to the community.

The self-proclaimed internet freedom fighter However, Kim Dotcom suspected a conspiracy behind the voting result. He reported Musk back: “It’s unwise to launch a poll like this when you’re now deep state enemy #1. They have the largest army of bots on Twitter. […] Let’s clean up and then repeat the survey. The majority have faith in you.”

Whether Musk will keep his promise remains unclear. It is quite possible that he believes those who doubt the legitimacy of the result and only lets the survey decide his professional future among those who have the $8 tick. One thing is certain: Since the result became known, it has become quiet on his Twitter account, apart from a few brief replies.
