Is serum essential after 50 years? : Current Woman Le MAG

With the drop in estrogen production that accompanies menopause, the physiology of the skin changes and skin aging accelerates. The skin is more dehydrated and requires special attention. Introducing a serum into your beauty routine – if you haven't already – is a good idea. Philippe Grisoni, Director of Research and Development at the Académie Scientifique de Beauté, even recommends having two or three in your bathroom depending on your skin's needs and desires. And if it is generally advised to apply it on the skin before its anti-wrinkle or moisturizer cream, he believes that there are no more rules established today.

To complete the action of its cream

The whole point of a serum lies in its specific formula. Whether anti-wrinkle, anti-stain or full of hyaluronic acid for a moisturizing action, it is a product perfectly complementary to an anti-aging cream. "The serum must not have the same actions as the cream, it must act in synergy with it," he explains. There is no point in the skin using a moisturizing serum with a moisturizer, for example, as it will not enhance the action. The idea? As a cream cannot do everything, it is important to adapt your duo to your needs. Example: if your cream acts on firmness thanks to a tightening effect, opt for a lightening serum in addition to even out the complexion. Having two or three serums on hand and being able to use them according to the needs of your skin is therefore a good solution to changing problems (weather, environment, weather, stress level).

To replace or alternate daily

Depending on the richness and comfort of its texture, the serum can replace the usual care. Women with oily skin, in particular, generally prefer light and penetrating textures. It can also be used alternately in the morning or in the evening, if your skin is not too dry.

For an immediate effect

Tone the skin for a lifting effect thanks to a tightening treatment or restore it to its radiance immediately using light-reflecting pigments … The serum is ideal for bringing a little boost to the skin. And in this case, you can absolutely use it after the cream!
