The Arcimoto company presents its MLM electric tricycle: a car capable of turning like a two-wheeler while offering the stability of a three-wheeler.

Arcimoto, a company based in Oregon, presented its Mean Lean Machine, an electric tricycle for adults a little more sophisticated than those intended for children… With MLM, Arcimoto aims to combine the stability of a three-wheeler with the maneuverability of a two-wheeler.

Arcimoto’s latest eccentricity

Above all, for those who do not know Arcimoto, it is an American firm specializing in rather atypical electric vehicles. Its flagship model is the FUV, for Fun Utility Vehicle. It is a small three-wheeled electric car driving with a handlebar, capable of carrying two passengers installed in tandem. In addition, Arcimoto recently teamed up with another American company, Faction, to develop the Faction D1, a driverless vehicle – at least on board – specializing in delivery.

His latest madness is therefore called MLM. Its detailed characteristics and its price will be revealed during the year, it is necessary for the moment to be satisfied with the video below to discover the machine. Already, the sequence highlights some of its flagship specifications.

A tilting tricycle

Firstly, this electric tricycle can be used in the mode train. This configuration allows the user to exercise, but also to recharge the battery of his mount via a pedal generator.

Then, difficult to miss, the MLM tilts in the turns. The release states that this three-wheel tilting technology was developed by the company’s Tilting Motor Works division. On this subject, Bob Mighell, Director of this division, says: With the MLM you will be able to take turns as you would with a classic bike, with better grip, greater stability and better braking capacity “.

The press release also reveals the presence of hub motors in each of the three wheels, and that’s about it. On the official presentation page, we discover two other pieces of information: the tricycle can accommodate one or two people and it offers more than 200 miles of autonomy (about 320 km).

Arcimoto promises marketing from the fourth quarter of 2022. It is possible to pre-order an MLM for 100 dollars, a fully refundable sum. A good thing, since the final sale price is unknown at this time; logically, it could turn out to be a deterrent for some.
