Is the Freebox Ultra too expensive? You can have (almost) the same at a better price

[Deal du jour] Free has just announced its new Freebox, with some innovations, better speeds and even streaming services included in the offer. But all this has a price and will cost you 10 euros more than the Freebox Delta, i.e. €49.99 per month for the Ultra Essential offer, and €59.99 per month for the Ultra offer. Fortunately, here are cheaper alternatives to benefit from fiber.

The best fiber offers of the moment

Before reading our selection, you can consult our comparison of the best fiber offers to see what the different operators offer. Here are some current fiber offers that are worth it:

The Freebox Ultra offer offers two subscriptions: one with the streaming services Prime Video, Netflix, Disney+ and Canal+, at no additional cost, the other without these services. However, these are the cheapest packages, that is to say with advertisements, which are offered for these SVOD platforms. To enjoy Disney+ or Netflix in the best conditions, you will have to pay much more than the €59.99 per month announced by Xavier Niel, and more around €80 per month.

The Sosh Box from €20.99 per month

The Sosh Box with fiber offer is priced at €20.99 per month for six months without commitment, then €30.99 per month. It gives you access to a very high-speed connection on the Orange network, up to 300 Mbits/s for downloading and sending. These are not the fastest speeds on the market, especially compared to the 8 Gbit/s speeds of the Freebox Ultra. However, it is enough to enjoy a good connection at a lower cost. The Livebox 5 accompanies the subscription, with intelligent and theoretically more stable Wi-Fi.

For €5 more per month and on request, you can benefit from a 4K HD and HD+ decoder to watch content on SVOD platforms. With various subscriptions to SVOD services, such as Disney+ or Netflix Standard, all without advertisements, the subscription will cost you around €50 per month.

You will have a landline with unlimited calls to landlines in mainland France, the French overseas departments, as well as to more than 100 international destinations. For unlimited calls to mobiles, you will unfortunately have to pay an additional €5 per month.

The RED Box 7 from €25.99, with one month free

RED’s fiber subscription with SFR box 7 and Wi-Fi 5 is priced at €25.99 per month, without commitment, for the first 6 months. After six months, the subscription increases to €29.99 per month, but you can cancel. One month subscription is currently offered.

RED fiber offers speeds of up to 500 Mb/s for downloading and sending. Note that for €7 more per month, you can benefit from Wi-Fi 6 with speeds of up to 1 Gb/s download and 700 Mb/s upload. The Connect TV 4K decoder transforms your television into a Smart TV, and will cost you €3 more per month.

Finally, a telephone line with unlimited calls to landlines in mainland France and overseas territories and in more than 100 countries is available when the line is opened.

The Bbox Special Series from €29.99 per month

Special Series fiber with Bbox fit from Bouygues is priced at €29.99 per month, without commitment for B&You customers. The Special Series offer offers speeds of up to 1 Gb/s for downloading and 700 Mb/s for sending, and is accompanied by WiFi 6 and the Bbox 4K HDR TV decoder. An attractive price if you want to have a TV box and SVOD services.

A landline is of course included, with unlimited calls to landlines in France and more than 110 countries. Finally, note that Bouygues offers numerous packs with its subscription, as well as attractive discounts on Smart TVs.
