Is the hotel room clean: This is how you can tell

Bed bugs, mold, dirt – let's face the truth: it could all be hiding in a hotel room. Take a look at these "invisible" places …

Sure, anyone who goes on vacation wants everything to be perfect: the food, the hotel complex – and above all the room! The horror idea: a filthy accommodation with a badly cleaned bathroom, stained bed linen and mold stains on the wall. Such a catastrophe would of course be recognized at first glance.

Unfortunately, hygiene deficiencies are far too often hidden behind curtains, cupboards or Mattresses. Or they are simply too small (keyword: bed bugs) to be recognized at first glance. Are you one of those people who like to play it safe? Then it's best to check these 5 places for their cleanliness:

The tiles

Do the touch check: do the tiles feel sticky? That means: the staff only works with the water jet – and does not wipe with a sponge. Definitely a lack of hygiene!

The toilet brush

The good one often hides in a container. Unfortunately, the horror only reveals itself when you use the brush. The best thing to do is to check it out when you arrive – to complain if necessary.

Under the trash can

Did you clean under the trash can? Careless cleaning staff simply wipe around it! Clearly: you can complain about that in a good hotel.

Under the sheet

Sure, you have to pull it off first. However, it only shows what it actually looks like on the mattress. Are there any spots or even animals? Of course not at all!

Behind the curtains

If you push it aside, you can quickly see how thoroughly it is being cleaned. Because if the cleaning staff only wipe through roughly, they tend to forget "invisible" areas. As a paying guest, however, you can expect the COMPLETE room to be freshly cleaned.

And what about bed bugs?

A special case and particularly nasty because it is hard to see! Once they are there, cleaning the rooms doesn't help either. The trick: put double-sided tape around the bed (as soon as you arrive) and leave the room for a while. You will soon see if there are bed bugs in the room. In that case: get out there!
