According to figures from the Ministry of the Interior, 45 of the 74 bands active on national territory are in Île-de-France. In 2018, 218 fights between gangs were recorded against 320 in 2022, including three killed and 239 injured.

This Monday, a 16-year-old teenager died on Monday January 16 after being stabbed during a probable fight between rival gangs in Thiais (Val-de-Marne). This phenomenon of brawls continues to multiply. According to the Ministry of the Interior, the gang phenomenon is defined as groups made up of at least three people, most of the time young underage boys who clash against a backdrop of rivalry between neighborhoods. They confront each other violently using iron bars or bladed weapons, often against the backdrop of drug trafficking.

Increasingly violent clashes

This phenomenon concerns the Paris region. According to figures from the Ministry of the Interior, 45 of the 74 bands active on national territory are in Île-de-France. While the number of gangs has been declining in recent years, clashes are increasingly violent and intensifying.

In 2018, 218 brawls were recorded against 320 in 2022, including three killed and 239 injured. This increase can be explained by the emergence of social networks, fueling rivalries between gangs and facilitating regrouping.
