The South Korean manufacturer Samsung has some futuristic-looking OLED-based display technologies in its luggage for the CES in Las Vegas – such as the “Flex Hybrid” model.

Flex Hybrid: Samsung designs foldable with stretchable screen

Samsung has already established foldable displays on the market – after all, the Galaxy Z Flip and Z Fold cell phones are already available for everyone. A combination of the foldables with the stretchable OLED displays, which are not yet available for sale, is a clear further development of the technology.

With the hybrid of foldable and the new slidable concept, Samsung is presenting a world first at CES. However, it remains to be seen whether the technology will be used in the Galaxy Z Fold 5, which is expected for autumn of this year.

TV sets with QD OLED are getting bigger, brighter – and cheaper?

As early as 2022, QD OLED technology as Samsung’s return to OLED production kept the experts in suspense. The first TV set with one of the new Samsung displays was the S95B – although it was “only” available in the normal household size of up to 65 inches.

At CES 2023, Samsung now also wants to add a gigantic 77-inch model, which is also said to be significantly brighter than the first generation of QD OLED televisions. The experts in the test labs will have to determine whether the promised 2,000 NITS will actually be exceeded – and they convicted Samsung of cheating on the horse even before the official market launch of the technology.

In addition, TV sets with QD OLED could generally become cheaper: Since Samsung has apparently learned to produce its display innovation more cheaply, this should also have an impact on the market price of the devices.

The virtual cockpit: entertainment and digital windshield

If you want to put your feet up in the car in the future because the car drives autonomously, you can choose between a virtual view of the road in the digital cockpit on 34-inch Samsung screens or the almost 16-inch entertainment screens, depending on the equipment .

However, the futuristic concept design is not yet conceivable in Germany – after all, completely autonomously navigating vehicles are not yet street legal in this country.
