is your banker rich or poor?

According to the Apec annual report, 46% of French executives received a salary increase in 2021. But does your banker earn a good living? Not necessarily, if we are to believe the latest figures from the recruitment firm Hays.

Are bankers privileged? No, answer 49% of the French (1). And rightly so. In the best of cases, a customer service representative, with a Bac+3 level of studies, begins his career 1700 euros net per month, explained Aurlien Soustre, member of the Financial Sector Advisory Committee (CCSF), in a previous article.

An observation shared by Hays. In his last study (2)the British recruitment firm indicates that a private client adviser at the start of his career can expect to earn between 26,000 and 28,000 euros gross annually, approximately 1650 euros net per month. After 8 years of experience, this figure increases 2250 euros net per month.

By contrast, customer advisers in charge of professionals and businesses are doing better. Even with less than three years of experience, they receive on average 2280 euros net. And after 8 years, their monthly salary goes up 2800 euros at the very least.

Strong disparities

In the middle of the table, wealth managers earn on average 2050 euros their beginnings, and until 2700 euros for the most experienced profiles. This is less than branch managers, whose remuneration can exceed 3200 net per month after 8 years of good and loyal service.

Hays national remuneration study 2022 – Salaries expressed in thousands of euros gross annual

Beyond these averages, salary scales may vary from one institution to another. Mutualists, in particular, often offer slightly lower wages than commercial banks.

But whatever the sign, a constant remains: the best off are the private bankers. After 5 years of experience, they receive at least 4600 euros, according to Hays. At the end of a career, this figure can soar beyond 5500 euros.
