The eldest daughter of Crown Prince Frederik and Crown Princess Mary will switch to boarding school later this year.

From the next school year, 14-year-old Princess Isabella of Denmark will attend an elite boarding school, the Danish royal family has announced. “In the coming school year, Her Royal Highness Princess Isabella would like to continue her education at Herlufsholm in Næstved, where His Royal Highness Prince Christian attends high school”, it says on the Instagram account.

She follows her brother Prince Christian (16) to Herlufsholm High School in Næstved, which is 90 kilometers from Amalienborg Palace. The princess had previously spent her schooling at Tranegårdskolen, which is only a 20-minute drive from the castle. Already after the summer holidays Isabella will attend the boarding school – which is a surprise.

Princess Isabella is in a hurry

“The princess is registered at the boarding school and starts in the 9th grade,” says the message. Actually, she should have only decided on a new school after this grade. Royal experts explain the early change of school with the experiences that her big brother is making at school and with Isabella’s desire for independence.

Isabella of Denmark is the eldest daughter of Crown Prince Frederik (53) and Crown Princess Mary (50). The twins Josephine and Vincent (11) make the family happiness complete.
