Isabelle and Patrick Balkany: Their very chic and incredible house in Giverny is “going into balls”…

Isabelle Balkany escaped, unlike her husband, a return to prison. After multiple breaches of respect related to her parole under electronic bracelet, she had to go back to justice but, last February, she made a new suicide attempt. Then she was hospitalized for several weeks due to a long Covid and lung cancer. Since then, she has returned to her chic Norman house located in Giverny.

It’s with the newspaper The Parisian in its edition of Monday, August 15, 2022 that Isabelle Balkany – who has now reunited with her husband Patrick after the latter’s release at the beginning of the month – surrendered to this huge property perched on a 4-hectare plot that the courts did not seize; unlike the villa Pamplemousse on the island of Saint-Martin in the West Indies. The house, a 17th century flour mill known as the Cossy mill, was purchased in 1985 and boasts high luxury appointments : 980 m2 of living space, a tennis court, a hammam, a sauna and a heated swimming pool ! Not all convicts have the same luck as the former deputy mayor of Levallois-Perret, most serving their sentences in a cell with bars and a hard bed. For ten years, the family made renovations “at great expense“and, today, we should bring out the checkbook…

Indeed, Isabelle Balkany affirms that her home in Giverny, estimated at several million euros, has suffered the wear and tear of time and could do with a facelift. “Everything is going down the drain here. The shutters should be repainted. The windows, re-varnish them. But we don’t have money to do it“, she says. It must be said that justice claims millions from them, because of various cases related to their income and their tax declarations. The one who grew up by her own admission in luxury, in a mansion of 3000 m² in the 16th arrondissement of Paris, learns late to make sacrifices and only afford what she really can. Thus, we discover that Isabelle Balkany (74 years old) dresses in particular at Kiabi and that she does her shopping at Lidl and Leclerc. There remains one item of expenditure on which she makes no effort: cigarettes. Despite her cancer, she continues to smoke Philip Morris White Silver cigarettes. “We don’t even know if my cancer was related to that. But I try to limit it anyway. Before, I was shooting two and a half packs a day“, she says…
