Like every Wednesday, the ministers met in the morning around President Emmanuel Macron. The question of the agreement, around the release of around fifty hostages held by Hamas in Gaza, was raised. According to information from Europe 1, at least three, or perhaps four French people, could be released.

A few hours after the announcement of an agreement providing for the release of 50 hostages in the hands of Hamas, in exchange for the release of Palestinian prisoners and a four-day truce in the Gaza Strip, the ministers met this Wednesday morning around Emmanuel Macron. A Council of Ministers logically turned towards this news while, according to information from Europe 1, at least three, or even perhaps four French people, could be released.

Not yet time for celebrations

Concerning them, they are exclusively children, aged 12 to 16 years old. But at the Élysée, while we welcome the major step forward that this agreement constitutes, caution remains in order when it comes to communicating. Until these hostages are released and returned home in the flesh, there will be no time for celebration.

It now remains to be seen whether or not these three or four French nationals will be in the first wave of released hostages. Because the releases are supposed to be carried out in a pearl-like manner. Currently, we are talking about the figure of 12 hostages per day, in theory, starting this Thursday. Hence the great restraint on the part of the executive which is well aware that this agreement is sensitive and that at the slightest slippage, everything could be interrupted.
