Israel-Hamas: “France is complicit in the massacre in the Gaza Strip,” says Manon Aubry

The devastating war in the Gaza Strip enters its seventh month this Sunday. Triggered on October 7 by an unprecedented bloody attack by Hamas in Israel, the Israeli offensive knows no respite. It left 33,137 dead, most of them civilians, according to the terrorist movement’s Ministry of Health, and caused a humanitarian disaster with the majority of the 2.4 million inhabitants threatened with famine, according to the UN. At Sonia Mabrouk’s microphone, Manon Aubry, head of the LFI list, was indignant at “France’s complicity in the massacre in the Gaza Strip”, she declared.

“All those who turn a blind eye, who have the shame of a gazelle to describe what is happening in the Gaza Strip, have a heavy responsibility.” If she believes that Hamas “played a role in carrying out terrorist attacks” in the humanitarian disaster of the Gazans, she insists on the responsibility of the Israeli government: “Who drops the bombs? The colonization and destruction of the Palestinian people have not not started in October,” she continues.

Embargo on arms shipments to Israel

The leader of France Insoumise harshly judged the French government and its support for the Israeli government: “When I see that the United Nations Human Rights Council has voted for an embargo on the shipment of weapons to “Israel and France shame us by abstaining on this resolution… They sent more than 100,000 rifles which are being used to massacre the Palestinian people,” she explains.

“If France does nothing to stop the ongoing massacres and if this ongoing massacre is qualified by international law as a genocide, then yes, France bears some responsibility for the genocide,” she said. .

She takes the example of Western countries, such as Canada, which suspended the sending of weapons to Israel or European states such as Belgium which voted in favor of the resolution at the Human Rights Council.

“139 States in the world recognize the State of Palestine. France still refuses to do so. I propose very simple things: that France decide on an embargo on the sending of arms to Israel, request the suspension of the association agreement between the European Union and Israel and recognizes the State of Palestine. This is how France could regain its diplomatic role in favor of peace,” she concluded.
