While the war between Israel and Hamas began more than a month ago, not all the victims have yet been identified. Faced with this, archaeologists from the Israeli Antiquities Authority are helping the army to put names to these faces, considered missing.
More than a month after the October 7 attack in Israel, all the victims have not yet been identified. Hamas terrorists burned down the houses where the women and children were. In the Nir Oz kibbutz, at least 70 people were massacred. Victims are still missing, their bodies having been reduced to ashes. Faced with this, archaeologists from the Israeli Antiquities Authority are helping the army to put names to these faces considered to have disappeared.

These archaeologists also focus on personal effects: a watch or a wedding ring. Small, important, but painful details, says Shmuel. “It’s the most difficult thing. I try to know as little as possible about the victims, their names, their personal information. Because when you find out, it makes the work almost impossible,” he explains. -he.
When suddenly between two stones. “It’s a collection of Jewish psalms that survived the fire in the house, it’s incredible,” Shmuel marvels. In a few days, thanks to the work of these archaeologists, at least ten victims were identified. So many families were then able to begin their mourning.
