Israel: Netanyahu dismisses his defense minister after his call to suspend the justice reform

JERUSALEM, March 26 (Reuters) – Benjamin Netanyahu on Sunday sacked his defense minister, Yoav Gallant, who the day before spoke out in favor of suspending the prime minister’s plan to reform the Israeli judicial system.

“President Benjamin Netanyahu has decided to relieve Defense Minister Yoav Gallant of his duties,” the Prime Minister’s office said.

Yoav Gallant, from Likud, the conservative party of Benjamin Netanyahu, publicly expressed his disagreement with the Prime Minister on Saturday by calling for the suspension of the judicial reform project, against which large demonstrations have been regularly organized for several weeks in Israel.
