JERUSALEM (Reuters) – Israel will persist in its offensive against Palestinian Hamas in the Gaza Strip, including Rafah in the south of the enclave, despite international pressure, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said on Thursday.

“There is international pressure and it is increasing, but especially when international pressure increases, we must close ranks, we must stand united against attempts to end the war,” Benjamin Netanyahu said, on the sidelines of the a graduation ceremony at a military school.

The Israeli army will attack Hamas throughout the Gaza Strip, “including Rafah, the last bastion” of the Palestinian movement, he added.

“Anyone who tells us not to act in Rafah is telling us to lose the war and that is not going to happen.”
