A multi-talent becomes a superhero: Issa Rae will speak the Spider-Woman in the follow-up to “Spider-Man: A New Universe”.
When it comes to series and films, Issa Rae (36) is a real all-rounder. The American is known as an actress, director, author and producer – and now she is also becoming a superhero. Rae will speak the character Spider-Woman in the follow-up to the animation hit “Spider-Man: A New Universe” (in the original “Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse”). The film is currently scheduled for release in late 2022.
She has loved Spider-Man for decades
“A dream come true”, writes Rae in an Instagram story and thus confirms corresponding reports from US industry magazines such as “The Hollywood Reporter” and “Variety”. She has loved Spider-Man since she was in third grade, explains the 36-year-old. In the sequel she will be heard alongside Shameik Moore (26) and Hailee Steinfeld (24), who give the characters Miles Morales and Gwen Stacy their voices.
No details are known yet about the plot of the upcoming film. “Variety” reported back in Aprilwho should direct. With Joaquim Dos Santos, Kemp Powers and Justin K. Thompson, Sony Pictures Animation is said to have found three people in charge.
