The start of the school year postponed because of the Paralympic Games?
In 2024, the start of the school year will take place on Monday September 2. but the co-chair of the working group of the National Assembly responsible for monitoring the preparation of the JOPs, Maxime Minot, has just made a big announcement. “The 2024 school year will not be postponed, but adapted in the establishments concerned by the games.”
The Minister of National Education Gabriel Attal also provided explanations for this alleged upheaval : “Careful work to identify schools and establishments located near the test locations is carried out by the rectorates in conjunction with local communities. This will make it possible to establish a list of establishments for which adjustments will be necessary, depending on whether they are located within a prohibited or restricted traffic area or near reserved lanes.
It is true that certain nursery and primary schools will indeed be used as part of the Paralympic Games. But we note that the establishments concerned are those located in Paris and neighboring departments where the Olympic and Paralympic sites are grouped. As a result, students from these establishments could be hosted for a week in another school or see their start of the school year postponed by a few days. All that remains is to wait for the Paris Academy to provide the list of schools concerned.
