Setback for the runner-up! Alexandar Borkovic from Sturm Graz suffered a cruciate and collateral ligament tear in the final training session before the Conference League match at Slovan Bratislava on Wednesday.
“Alexandar Borkovic’s serious knee injury is of course very painful, we hope for a successful operation and a quick recovery for Borko,” said coach Christian Ilzer. “The very intense Thursday obviously cost a lot of energy, but on the other hand the success brought energy back. We have a few ailing players – the medical department has a lot to do to get our players fit again for a difficult Bundesliga game. But I’m confident that we won’t have too many absences.” The defender underwent surgery on Friday and will be out for months.
