It is being tested in Germany: New TV standard DVB-I launched


Germany is at the forefront of DVB-I and has a pilot project running that is scheduled to last until spring 2023. The goal: It is intended to show a vision for a national market scenario for the new standard. In addition, experience is gained with the aggregation of program lists and further requirements for the standard are identified.

In addition to hybrid service lists, the following services are mentioned for testing: HbbTV, digital rights management (DRM) and subscriptions, dynamically added event channels, region-specific channel sorting, EPGs with links to media libraries, playlists as channels, radio programs and next generation audio.

At the Munich Media Days, a DVB-I service list will be presented for the first time in accordance with the public value regulation published by the media authorities and the recommendation for the listing of fee-financed and private video offerings in Germany.
