It only took one night for the courageous mother to turn into a murderer

To avoid the death penalty, Lauren, a 28-year-old American mother, pleaded guilty to the negligent murder of her disabled daughter. That evening, she had gone out to a bar. She was sentenced to life in prison.

“Come on Lauren, it’s Friday night! Join us at Shades. Plus, there’s a great band playing live tonight. Just come have a drink!” On the phone with her girlfriend, the young mother hesitates. On this January 31, 2020, she really wants to pop into the coolest bar in Bay City. And would gladly allow herself to be tempted by a little carelessness and madness, like in high school days. It would do him good. It must be said that at 26, Lauren has not known the frivolity of everyday life for a long time.

At a very young age, Lauren got into a relationship with her school sweetheart, Isaac. Seven years earlier, on October 29, 2012, she gave birth to their first child, a baby girl named Jordynn. Diagnosed with trisomy, she was born prematurely with cerebral palsy. “I remember the doctors warning us that as soon as you were born, you were going to die because of all the medical problems that you were accumulating. […] And you proved them wrong, my little one, born at 2,150 kg at 36 weeks, “wrote Lauren on Facebook for the girl’s 7th birthday, at the end of October 2019. A message illustrated with a beautiful photo.

Before the tragedy, everyone saluted the self-sacrifice of this courageous mother

For this beautiful birthday, everyone is gathered around Jordynn: his little brother, Isaac Jr, 5 years old. There is also Isaac, his dad, accompanied by Sky, his new companion who has just given birth to Iveric, 5 months. Because Isaac and Lauren separated shortly after the birth of their son. Lauren, who has custody of the children, welcomes the good contact with her ex. “We weren’t meant to be together, but we’re doing our best to be the best parents possible,” she said, still on Facebook. Isaac, who has quickly rebuilt his life, continues to see his children. “I’m glad your dad and I are still co-parents who still share birthday parties! We love you so much baby girl,” she wrote.

Another joy, Lauren awaits a happy event. She is pregnant with a baby girl. The young woman also wanted to get back together and form a beautiful family. Her new darling unfortunately distanced herself from the announcement of the pregnancy. When she gives birth alone to her third child, her second daughter, named Kaislynn, Lauren hopes that all will go well for “her other princess”. This courageous 26-year-old mother, whose self-sacrifice everyone salutes, thinks she can assume her role with three children at home, including an infant and a disabled girl who has no autonomy.

At 7, the girl cannot move on her own or eat without help

Because little Jordynn still has a fragile health: operated on for a heart defect at 6 months, she also had to undergo countless operations on the stomach. At 3, she also had brain surgery. Now 7 years old, the little girl can neither move on her own nor eat without help and sleeps in a medical bed. “Jordynn is non-verbal, she doesn’t know how to sit either and will have the mindset of an 18-month-old all her life,” says her mother.

Lauren has been supporting her children on her own for years. So this January evening, she loses all common sense and accepts the unthinkable: leaving her children alone at home to treat herself to a little getaway to the neighborhood bar. Is this the first time? Was she gone long? Have the children been drugged so as not to wake up? These questions remained unanswered. One thing is certain, Lauren has been exposed. A complaint was registered at midnight to report that her children were alone at her home. At 2:30 p.m. the next day, Bay City police, mandated by Child Protection, rang the doorbell at Lauren’s home. They want to make sure the kids are okay.

It was a police officer who certified the death of the little girl

Lauren is confident, she minimizes the facts. “Come in and check for yourself, my children are here and all is well.” But the police officer then finds that little Jordynn is dead. Lauren didn’t realize anything. After spending seven years watching over her daughter, she thought the little one was sleeping! Arrested on the spot and taken to Matagorda prison (Texas), Lauren will stay there for a long time. To avoid a trial that could result in a death sentence, Lauren chose, as permitted by US law, to plead guilty. Lauren Kay Dean, 28, was sentenced on October 5, 2022, to life in prison for the murder of her daughter. It only took one night for the courageous mother to turn into a murderer.
