The private life of politicians has always intrigued the French, especially that of Nicolas Sarkozy. Elected President of the Republic on May 16, 2007, the former Head of State speaks in the second part of his Memoirs, titled The time of battlespublished by Fayard editions Tuesday August 22, 2023 and of which Gala released a few snippets the same day. The first tenant of the Élysée to have divorced notably made some confidences about his marriage to Carla Bruni in 2008 and the birth of his fourth child, Giulia, in 2011. An arrival eagerly awaited by the former presidential couple. “She’s my first daughter and the child of love”, he wrote in his Memoirs. On the day of the birth of Giulia, the second child of the former First Lady, the former president was to travel to Frankfurt to meet Angela Merkel there about the financial crisis in Greece. But before his flight, he insisted on accompanying his wife Carla Bruni to the clinic. “I was reassured to know that she was in good hands. It was a little premature but prudent”, he remembered while writing these lines.

Former mayor of Neuilly-sur-Seine, Nicolas Sarkozy wanted his wife Carla Bruni, ex-model of Italian origin, to be surrounded on the day of her delivery, even if he had to fly to Germany . “Carla had to be patient. After hearing the news, Nicolas Sarkozy returned to Paris as soon as possible to join his little family. Indeed, if he was already the father of Louis (26 years old), Pierre (37 years old) and Jean (36 years old), the sexagenarian lived this birth like it was the first one he was attending. “After three boys, a girl! I couldn’t imagine greater happiness”he remembered, before revealing to his readers: “I got to know Giulia… From that day on, my life, our life, that of the whole family was changed”.
