Who was Pierre Deschamps?

A house painter by trade, Pierre Deschamps was a big fan of rugby, and had notably played under the colors of Biarritz Olympique. Married to Ginette, he had two sons, Didier and Philippe, who died in a plane crash in 1987. In a documentary on TF1, the former footballer confided about this drama: “It’s so unfair, but we live with it. We are obliged (…) The years have passed, time does its work, but we cannot forget.
