‘It wasn’t entirely my decision’: Hayden Panettiere heartbroken over losing custody of daughter Kaya

It has now been more than four years since Hayden Panettiere no longer has custody of her 7-year-old daughter Kaya. Due to the young woman’s addiction issues with alcohol and opioids, parental rights were entrusted to his ex-companion Wladimir Klitschko, father of Kaya. Of Ukrainian origin, the ex-boxer went to live in Ukraine with his 3-year-old daughter Kaya.

Since then, the invasion of Russia hit Ukraine hard in February 2022 and Hayden Panettiere is missing her daughter. The young woman was the guest of the show Red Table Talk featured by Jada Pinkett Smith, Adrienne Banfield Norris and Kelly Osbourne on Facebook Watch. Kaya’s mother opened up about her daughter’s departure with her father: “It wasn’t entirely my decisiondid she say. There was no discussion. Whether [Wladimir Klitschko] had come to me to say: ‘I think that, given the situation you are in now and the worries that you have, it would be better for her to be with me for a while’, I would have said that it was the most sensible thing to do, that I would come and visit him. Because it didn’t happen like that, it was overwhelming”she said.

The best thing for my daughter was to make sure she was okay

For Hayden Panettiere, who suffered from addiction, the distance from her daughter was difficult to live with: “I was going to work on myself, get better, and when I got better, things would change, she would come with me and I could hang out with her, but it didn’t turn out that way. These are the worst papers I’ve had to sign in my life, the most heartbreaking thing i’ve ever done. The papers gave full custody [à Wladimir Klitschko]she explained. “The best thing for my daughter was to make sure she was okay, and that I took care of myself to be the best mother I could be.”she pointed out.
