A new search filter allows you to list WhatsApp messages that you haven’t read yet. This new feature is being rolled out for beta testers.
We no longer really count the new WhatsApp products deployed during the year, as there are so many of them. The latest, however, caused a stir, since the instant messaging service should integrate customizable avatars like Bitmoji or Apple Memoji.
The one recently spotted by WABetaInfo may not be as remarkable, but it will have the merit of always refining the user experience of the platform. Said feature was unearthed in Android beta 2.22.16.14. In reality, it had already appeared a month earlier, before disappearing and then reappearing in July.
“Unread” filter
The feature in question is none other than a new search filter. Today, by clicking on the research tab of WhatsApp – the magnifying glass icon at the top right of the screen –, six filters are offered: photos, videos, links, GIFs, audio and documents. In the future, a seventh will appear on this list: unread.
By clicking on it, WhatsApp will display the list of all conversations in which messages have not been viewed. If you are an avid user of many chats, this can be useful for finding unread messages that have been lost in the depths of your application.
By the end of the year
WABetaInfo specifies that this beta was also released for iOS users last month. Android like iOS should therefore be entitled to it. This functionality should land by the end of the year on the stable version: stay tuned and think about downloading the next updates of the application.
