IT work to blame – train cancellations: “Chaos at Graz main station”

ÖBB customers complain on the “Krone” telephone on Friday morning: “Currently there is chaos at Graz Central Station. There are currently no trains departing and obviously nobody knows what’s going on. So far, no rail replacement service has been set up.” Obviously, IT work during the night was to blame…

One of the callers complained on the “Krone” phone: “Obviously there must be a major technical problem, and it has been since at least 5:30 a.m..” There are no trains leaving, total chaos reigns here!” ÖBB spokesman Herbert Hofer told the “Krone” newspaper that there could be no question of chaos, but train cancellations had actually occurred. The error was triggered by maintenance work on the IT system. The problem still exists. Many people are affected, trains are cancelled, delays throughout Austria. Was it a cyber attack? “No, we can rule that out,” says Hofer. We regret the inconvenience to travelers. The fact is, there are many people affected, trains are delayed or canceled all over Austria. There is currently no end in sight.
