Spanish footballer Pablo Mari, injured in a deadly knife attack committed by an unbalanced person in a supermarket at the end of October in Milan (north), returned to the field on Wednesday with his club from Monza, to Florence (1-1).

Spanish defender Pablo Mari has returned to Serie A club Monza three months after he was stabbed in an attack at a supermarket near Milan that left one dead and four others injured.

The 29-year-old centre-back, on loan from Arsenal to the Italian club, came on as a second-half substitute against Fiorentina on Serie A Matchday 16, marking the resumption after the month-and-a-half break due to Global.

Hospitalized for several days

Pablo Mari was among several people attacked in a hypermarket on October 27 by a man visibly suffering from psychiatric disorders, who grabbed a knife from a shelf and killed an employee, injuring the player and four other people.

Hit on the back, the footballer was operated on and hospitalized for a few days. “We are all very happy with the return of Pablo Mari, he skipped the steps to come back,” rejoiced his coach Raffaele Palladino on Tuesday, on the eve of AC Monza’s trip to Fiorentina.

“Now he must find the best condition, for us he is a great leader,” he added.
