The “Leg’s go in Cammino” initiative offers anyone under 35 the opportunity to travel to Sardinia. The trip takes you along the historic Santa Barbara mountain hiking trail. The challenging route, which is divided into 16 stages and takes about a month to complete, takes hikers past cliffs, caves, forests, beaches, waterfalls and ancient sites. With a total length of around 500 kilometers, the route is no easy task.

According to the Sun, anyone who manages to complete this mammoth task will be rewarded with three free nights in accommodation on the Italian island. The Cammino Minerario di Santa Barbara Foundation, based on the island, is organizing the overnight vouchers, which will be available from September 15th.

Foundation attracts young people to Italian island

Margherita Concu, secretary of the foundation, told “Travel book“that the action was launched to “promote the south-western part of Sardinia, above all because we want to enhance our territory”. She referred to the “legacy of the great mining epic” and stressed the importance of sustainable tourism for the region, which is suffering from a serious economic crisis.

The aim of the campaign is to familiarize young people with the mining history of the region and to arouse their interest. Concu stressed the importance of “lowering the average age” and ensuring “that the young generation is interested in and learns about the mining past of these places”.

Holiday island bans wearing bikinis in the city

No free overnight stay, but there is a new dress code on another Italian island. On Favignana, it is now forbidden to enter the town center in swimwear or even topless. This will apply until September 30, said Mayor Francesco Forgione. Anyone who does not comply can expect a fine of between 25 and 150 euros.
