Italian supremacist arrested for terrorism plot

A young Italian, member of the American supremacist organization “The Base“, was arrested Thursday for planning to acquire weapons and carry out “violent actions“, announced the police. This man residing in Bari (east) is suspected of “recruitment for terrorism, propaganda and incitement to violence“for reasons”racial, ethnic and religious“. “The suspect, acting as a lone wolf, was ready to make the ultimate sacrifice in the name of defending the white race“, said the police in a press release, without specifying his age. On a weapon packaging found at his home, he had drawn runic symbols and written “Breivik eroe(Breivik hero), in reference to the Norwegian far-right killer Anders Behring Breivik who killed 77 people in 2011.

The same markings were found on the semi-automatic AR-15 type rifle used by Payton Gendron, an 18-year-old American supremacist, to kill ten people, almost all black, in a supermarket in Buffalo, near Canada, in May last. Investigators established that the Italian had been radicalized on the social network “Sieg Heil“where he broadcast content”anti-Semites, misogynists and neo-Nazis“, and sought to “get weapons and the ability to build them through the acquisition of a 3D printer“.
