Italy: Court in Italy convicts steel managers

They allowed toxins to be released from the plant into the environment. The court also sentenced 24 former managers, politicians and other people to prison. The verdict is not yet legally binding. The Riva brothers announced they would contest it.

The process has already been running for five years. Doctors blame the pollution caused by the steel mill for the drastic increase in cancer incidence in the neighboring city of Taranto.
