Italy: Osimhen’s agent threatens Naples with prosecution for making fun of the player on TikTok

Victor Osimhen’s agent has threatened to sue Napoli after a video was posted on the Italian club’s TikTok account mocking the Nigerian striker who missed a penalty on Sunday against Bologna. “What happened on the official Napoli account on the TikTok platform is not acceptable,” Roberto Calenda explained on Monday evening on X (ex-Twitter).

“We reserve the right to take legal action”

“A video making fun of Victor was first posted, then it was deleted. This is a serious fact which causes very significant damage to the player and adds to the treatment he has been suffering lately among the criticisms in the media and fake news,” the agent continued. “We reserve the right to initiate legal proceedings and any useful initiative to protect Victor,” he concluded.

This publication on TikTok showed Osimhen’s missed penalty attempt against Bologna (0-0) on Sunday, as part of the 5th day of the Italian Championship, commented by a high-pitched voice saying “Give me a penalty if he please you.” Top scorer in Serie A last season, Osimhen, 24, like his club, the reigning Italian champion now coached by Frenchman Rudi Garcia, has had a mixed start to the season. He scored three goals, but expressed his frustration to his coach when he was substituted late in the match against Bologna.

Osimhen, who joined Napoli from Lille in 2020, was coveted this summer by big names in European football including Chelsea and Manchester United, but Napoli president and owner Aurelio De Laurentiis vetoed it and met with his agent at several times to get him to extend his contract. Naples, 7th, seven lengths behind the leader, Inter, hosts Udinese on Wednesday as part of the 6th day.
