ROME (Reuters) – Italy, which holds the G7 presidency in 2024, plans to invite the leaders of several African countries as well as Argentina, Brazil and India to so-called information meetings during of the Group of Seven (G7) summit scheduled for mid-June, said a source close to the matter.
The leaders’ summit will take place in Borgo Egnazia, a seaside resort in the country’s southeastern Puglia region, from June 13-15.

The source, who requested anonymity due to the sensitivity of the issue, said the leaders of Egypt, Tunisia, Algeria and Kenya would all receive invitations, as would representatives of the African Union.

The G7 has been inviting other world leaders for several years with the desire to be more “inclusive” and to strengthen consensus on crucial issues such as Ukraine and relations with China.
