The Latvian company Zeltini unveiled the marketable version 2.0 of the electric Z-Triton at the end of February: it is a bicycle, small caravan and boat. A very strange machine that offers many features for outdoor travel, alone or in pairs.

The Z-Triton aims to be a carbon-positive electric leisure vehicle thanks to a whole series of environmentally friendly components and on-board features.

More comfortable and cleaner journeys

Aigars Lauzis, a citizen of Latvia, is a fan of big bike rides. A passion that led him to realize a few years ago a road trip in the saddle of 30,000 km between London and Tokyo, Japan. During these long months of travel, he noticed, he says, a number of disadvantages to traveling simply by bicycle. Putting up and taking down the tent every day to sleep, looking for and paying for a boat to cross the rivers are among the black points of such an enterprise.

During his trip, then on a stopover in China, he began to develop a prototype bicycle that could overcome these inconveniences. The idea of the Z-Triton was born. In 2020, the prototype is ready to be launched, but in the end there are still too many things to review. And here we are today faced with its version 2.0, larger, longer and more resistant.

An electric “recreational vehicle” with a positive carbon footprint, made of organic fiberglass materials, plastic polyester from recycled bottles and 3D printed parts in bioplastic, which can be used as a bicycle, boat and berth for clean travel enthusiasts.

An electric vehicle with impressive options

3.9 meters long, 1.45 meters wide and 1.72 meters high, these are the dimensions of this real road UFO, which is not allowed to use cycle paths due to its size. imposing. It will still be necessary to squeeze a little in the sleeping area: it is only one meter by two and it is equipped with a folding table. The cabin is covered with solar panels and lights, and can even accommodate a pot to transport a plant.

For the bike part, a 1,500 W electric motor with seven-speed gearbox on the handlebars will allow up to 50 km of travel to be carried out in one charge at a maximum of 25 km/h, all possibly to music since a sound system is installed.

The boat part, reserved for small river or lake crossings (we would not recommend trying to cross the Amazon with it), is set up in five minutes. Just deploy the 1,150 W motor and inflate a few buoys to place on the sides to start “taking off” at a speed of 5 km/h for a maximum of 20 km. All for the modest sum of 14,500 euros.
