Harry Kane’s child is here and England can breathe easy

Harry Kane scored his first goal in the Bundesliga on Friday, and a few days later the captain of the English national team became a father for the fourth time. And provides a sigh of relief on the island.

Bayern Munich’s new star striker Harry Kane has become a father for the fourth time. “Welcome to the world Henry Edward Kane. 20/8/2023. Love you boy,” the 30-year-old England captain wrote alongside a photo posted to Instagram on Monday. It showed Kane holding little Henry wrapped in a towel on his bare chest, apparently shortly after giving birth.

Kane’s move to Munich shortly before the birth had caused worrying headlines in the English tabloid: “OUR WURST NIGHTMARE! England captain Harry Kane’s baby could be born in Munich – and be eligible to play for GERMANY,” wrote “The Sun” apparently horrified. The striker, record goalscorer for the “Three Lions”, had kept a low profile: “We will do what is best for us as a family,” he said. According to “The Sun”, his wife had already inspected several hospitals in Munich in July, when negotiations were still ongoing about Kane’s change.

If the family’s fourth child had been born in Germany, it would have had the option of dual citizenship – and “the opportunity to decide whether it wanted to play for England or for its big soccer rivals,” as the newspaper warned. However, the Instagram photo of the professional, who scored his first Bundesliga goal for FC Bayern on Friday, shows that the paper work surrounding Henry Edward Kane is in English. A strong indication at least that the boy will never play for the German national team.

Kane, who switched from Tottenham Hotspur to FC Bayern for more than 100 million euros, has been married to his childhood sweetheart Katie Goodland since 2019. The couple already have three children, Ivy, Vivienne and Louis.
