After a triptych released in 2021, Netflix is reviving its horror franchise “Fear Street” with a new opus. The platform reveals the first images from the shoot.
Do you know Fear Street? Imagined by RL Stine, the creator of Goosebumps, this series of novels has more than fifty volumes. In 2021, Netflix is adapting it with three films, each dedicated to an era: 19941978, 1666. After great success, the streaming giant was waiting to relaunch the machine to make it an iconic horror franchise.
For the new film, the platform adapts the fifteenth volume, Prom Queen. The plot takes place in 1988 and the girls of Shadyside School are preparing for their big moment: the prom. But when a young unknown girl is nominated for the title of prom queen, her competitors mysteriously disappear one by one.
In order to announce the arrival of the film – which could arrive this fall – Netflix has published the first images of the filming which is currently taking place in the United States. We discover, in a very retro style eightiesthe characters and a preview of the feature film which should pay homage to the classics of this decade.
Images from the shoot:
Each Fear Street refers to cult horror films. Fear Street 1994 is obviously inspired by Scream, as for the sequel, it takes place the same year as the release of John Carpenter’s film Halloween, in 1978. Feat Street: Prom Queen should undoubtedly echo the Prom horror, classic with Jamie Lee Curtis, but also Carrie by Brian De Palma.
In the cast of this new part, we will find India Fowler (The Nevers), Suzanna Son (The Idol), David Iacono (The Summer I Became Pretty), Ella Rubin (The Idea of Being With You), Chris Klein (American Pie), Lili Taylor (Outer Range), Katherine Waterston (Fantastic Beasts) and Ariana Greenblatt (Barbie).
If no release date has yet been confirmed, there is a good chance that Fear Street: Prom Queen will land on the platform for Halloween.
