It’s getting colorful again in Klagenfurt! Today, Saturday, supporters of the LGBTQI community are parading through downtown Klagenfurt for the eighth time. “Krone” asked why Pride was taking place in July this year and what innovations visitors could look forward to.
Starting at 5 p.m. on Saturday, the Klagenfurt rainbow parade will move clockwise along the Ring around the city center from the Stadttheater. The Pride Parade will then come to an end in the Goethe Park before the afterpride party in the Imsüden Club. The prelude will be speeches, including State Councilor Sara Schaar. According to Nadja Regenfelder from the Klagenfurt/Celovec Queer Association, there are two reasons why the parade is not taking place in June – the official Pride Month: “On the one hand, we want to show that we are queer People don’t just want to be visible in June, but all year round. On the other hand, parades took place every weekend in June in other state capitals – we wanted to avoid a clash of dates!” 4.30 p.m. – 5 p.m.: Welcome & speeches 5 p.m. – 6.15 p.m.: Demonstration procession through the city center 6.15 p.m. – 6.30 p.m.: Arrival Goethepark 6.30 p.m. – 7 p.m.: Open mic 7 p.m. – 8 p.m.: End with music from 8 p.m.: Pride After Party in the IMSÜDEN CLUB In Klagenfurt, the Pride is taking place for the eighth time, but there is still something new: “This year, for the first time, there will be several wagons with music, not just one at the Beginning of the demo train,” said Regenfelder to the “Krone”.
